Nokia N97 mini vs N900 camera showdown

Thursday, 18 December 2014 03:57

n900_hands_onHello once again dear readers! Before writing any of my major articles, I always try to approach the same problem differently for additional challenge, otherwise – where’s the fun?

The idea behind this particular article was to stress test the imaging capabilities on the two top of the line Nokia smartphones, and a special thanks is in order to the helpful people at WomWorld/Nokia for providing me with a spanking new Nokia N97 mini to pit against the N900 in all it’s glory!

What have you come to expect from a 5 Mpix camera on your high-end smartphone? Perhaps your expectations are set too high, or maybe they are unjustly low? Huge User review: The N900 by Mikey

Thursday, 18 December 2014 03:57

n900_hands_onOver the last two weeks I have been lucky enough to have the Nokia N900 on loan from WomWorld. This device has seen quite a bit of hype recently so I was really pleased to have the opportunity to see what all the fuss was about, and guess what, it doesn’t disappoint!

Having been something of a Symbian fanatic for the last nine years or so, I was eager to see if this new operating system could satisfy my needs, both in day to day usage and when the mood takes me for a spot of tinkering under the hood.

I’m not going to give you a mile long spec sheet, show you a pile of photos taken by its average camera, or tell you why I think it is better than the iPhone, you can read a million and one reviews that already do that, I’m simply going to te.... .. .

Reviews & User Experiences: Got my N900!

Thursday, 18 December 2014 03:57

n900_hands_onHaven't gone near the beta repository just yet, just set it up to sync my google contacts (shame that Google Email sync doesn't work, no matter, I can get push Gmail via Nokia Messaging for now), and installed a bunch of software...

My Zephyr heart rate monitor works a treat in eCoach (although eCoach is a much more basic piece of software than run.gps).

Build quality, a litle plasticky, but feels solid overall. Slider is solid, only a little play in the closed position (maybe half a mm), I think the slider turned out reasonably well because they were so conservative with the small 3 row keyboard. On the keyboard, its a little cram... .. .

User Experience: My Mini N900 Review (Loaded With Screenshots)

Thursday, 18 December 2014 03:57

n900_hands_onHey all, I got my phone a couple of days ago on Friday and thought while you are waiting for yours to come you might want to know a few things so here are a few insights about the phone from my experience of the last day or so enjoy!

First I Just want to say that it is as great as I expected it to be but one thing I have noticed though it that it does lag sometimes...but this could be down to the fact that before I properly started using it, I loading every application I wanted onto it, and have loads of things on the desktop!

The only 2 things I don't like about the phone right now is that it doesn't support MMS and that it's mostly in landsc.... .. .

Nokia N900 Hands On Preview [Video & Photo & Text]

Thursday, 18 December 2014 03:57

n900_sergej_handson_tmHello dear Maemo Freaks or maybe you, first time visitor. In that case, I whole heartedly welcome you to the definitive Maemo blog and to our very first coverage of the upcoming Nokia N900, that is already viewed by many as the next big step in mobile phone (r)evolution.

During my visit at the Symbian Exchange & Exposition event that was held a few days ago in London, I was able to snatch this highly anticipated device for a closer inspection under my camera.

Perhaps there's some hidden plot I'm yet to fully uncover, but I’ve noticed a surprisingly large number of people thoughtfully typing with N900’s like there was no tomorrow, and my geeks heart almost couldn't bear to watch. A quick glance at their badges with 'Nokia' written bell... .. .

Wired.com's Review Editor On N900 : "Suck That iPhone!"

Thursday, 18 December 2014 03:57

n900_hands_onWired.com and Wired Magazine is a popular award winning US tech publisher popular with 25-50 year old male college grads making $100k+ per year, tech enthusiasts, and the Silicon Valley tech community. With a magazine circulation of just over 705,000, and a website with 11.2 million unique users per month (it says alot for your audience when they prefer the online information to the paper periodical), it represents a popular media outlet amongst the target demographic for the Nokia N900.

Danny Dumas, their hip, young Reviews Editor, has gotten his hands on the N900. On their Gadget Lab blog, he gives a short but thorough video overview of the N900, which he described as a "portable desktop device", which I think fits perfectly. Wired is credited with coining the term crowdsourcing, and may have just coined a new one I thi... .. .

thumb_ubWell, with its 3,5" resistive touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, HSPA and Wi-Fi, 5 MPX cam with Carl Zeiss optic and dual led flash, huge in-built storage and pretty much the same design, the Nokia N900 doesn't look that different from the company’s flagship smartphone, Nokia N97.
